Mavis And Indy

Mavis and Indy are characters we have created to demonstrate the spectrum of experience that women can encounter on their journey through the menopause.

At times, we all feel like Mavis - Miserable, Anxious, Vile to live with, Irritable and Stuck in a rut.

Our fictional character is depressed. She has lost confidence in herself and has given up. She is finding the menopausal symptoms difficult to deal with and feels that nobody understands how she is feeling. She knows she is not taking good care of herself and that she is not getting the best out of life but she doesn’t believe she has the energy to make big changes. Even if she does have an idea of the changes she wants to make, she is nervous about the reactions of her family and friends.

But Mavis is not alone. Generations of women have had these feelings. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hear their stories and discover how they have learned to manage these feelings and adapt to their changing lives?

Indy is simply an illustration of the possibilities that exist for us. She has felt like Mavis but she decided not to give up. She sought advice from her doctor and spoke to the women around her to find out how they coped, not only with the physical symptoms of the menopause, but with the wider changes that were happening in their lives.

She took control of herself and her life and found ways to make changes that suited her so that she could enjoy life to the full again.

Indy is not intended to be an intimidating character. She has been created as a representation of the person each of us could be. We want to encourage you to find your own personal version of Indy - to show the world and yourself that I’m Not Done Yet’!
